A documentary

The Wellness Industry is a trillion-dollar business with a dirty little secret.

"a record high of 4.5 trillion dollars"

Global Wellness Institute valued the global wellness industry at a record high of $4.5 trillion in 2022.

In the US alone, an estimated $20 billion is spent annually on weight loss schemes, from diet books to pills.

How are we investing more each year but consistently seeing a decline in our health? In the 1970s, only 13% of the adult population was obese. Today, nearly 75% are either obese or overweight.

Our Movie

HEALTHY LIES examines a mystery, buried by hush money: How does the United States spend twice as much on health compared to any other country, only to see obesity rates more than double since the 1980s? If you thought it was a question of carbs or cardio, the problem runs much deeper, and the solution is nothing that you have been sold. The reality? The wellness industry needs you to fail - so you continue to buy in.

The thing that was built to be the solution, has become the problem. It is like the greatest murder mystery of all time… the hero is the villian.

I was a coach on the Biggest Loser and did I help people? Yes, but I realize now it was just a bandaid.

People like me who can overeat anything, selling me a diet where it's like "your life will be solved by cutting carbs"...that is a lie.

“I was just waking up, unlike my usual upbeat self, just super extra sad every day, and I didn’t know why. Mental health is so tied to the physical. Once I started moving my body, my mind followed.“

“No food is good or bad.

Some foods are just more nutrient-dense than others and that’s the difference”

People are throwing the word poison around like it doesn't mean anything.

People who say fruits are poison. Sugar is poison. McDonald's is poison. If it were poison, you would be fucking dead, but these words have shock value.”

"The fitness industry has repeatedly failed us. It has become a cesspool of charlatans. It is far easier to make money by promoting BS than it is actually helping people."

It's hard to stay motivated to do something that is fueled by hatred for your body.

"Fear tactics peddled by the wellness industry have the greatest negative impacts on cancer patients. Cancer patients are dying because of it.”
